Mobile gaming accounts for the most gaming revenue
It has been revealed that over two fifths (43 per cent), or $74.9 billion, of revenue across the whole gaming industry is specifically attributed to games played on smartphones.
Boxed games, usually for consoles, generated $34.2 billion, whilst tablet games and PC games on browsers pulled in $11.4 billion and $3.2 billion respectively.
Rex Pascual, Esports editor at 123scommesse, said: "Since smartphones became technologically capable of operating high-performance games, it has become the most lucrative source of revenue for the game industry. As smartphones become even more and more technologically advanced, expect the smartphone market to gain an even larger share of the global gaming market in the coming years."
In 2021, there is expected to be a huge increase in cloud gaming, with experts convinced that it will hit over $1 billion for the first time in history, Safe Betting Sites' research claims.
However, others think it could hit $4 billion in 2021, before soaring to $12 billion by 2025.
