Fans of the hotly-anticipated game will be able to play the title's tester from 5pm GMT (9am PST) on Saturday (09.12.17) for a full three days before it closes on December 12 at 4.59pm GMT (8.59am PST).

Those keen to do so will need to be PlayStation Plus subscribers and have 5.1GB of space on their console.

A statement on the game's official website read: "Attention PS Plus members! Get a taste of adventure in the new world of Monster Hunter!

"The Monster Hunter: World beta test will use worldwide multiplayer matchmaking to test server load for the upcoming release. For the duration of the beta test, any PlayStation Plus member can participate to join in the hunt with players from around the world! (sic)"

But players are able to download the game - the fifth primary title in the 'Monster Hunter' franchise - from December 8 in preparation for their beta testing.

The upcoming action role-playing video game is being developed by Capcom and will see gamers take on the role of a hunter who travels around slaying beasts in battles across various terrains.

What's more, players can also go on quests alone or with up to three other hunters in the new online drop-in multiplayer system allowing people to play between Japan and the West for the first-time ever.

'Monster Hunter: World' will be released on PS4 and Xbox One on January 26th 2018, and there will be a PC version to follow.
