Relentless Software are returning to their Murder Files franchise after a hugely successful first release, and now we're all to board The Enigma Express in an updated and competitive-natured follow-up to the original.

Teaming up with Hannah Dokota of the recognisable Blue Toad Agency, players are taken on an adventure which will see them travel the world to uncover the mystery behind a secret vault heist.

Incarcerated criminal mastermind Five Fingers is the one who has had eight mysterious trinkets stolen, but the reasons behind their use and who took them are up to you to figure out.

Fantastic artwork is on display once more, and there's no loss of humour or wit in a script written by International Emmy Award winner Felicty Carpenter, whilst music fits the mood perfectly coming from BAFTA-nominee Dom Beken.

Those who have Facebook friends also into super sleuthing can play along with their pals and find out who's bringing home the most points on a new leaderboard tally.

The beginning of the game will see you introduced to your characters and the 'object finding' part of the game. I must admit, I was a little confused before I noticed that the item you have to find is displayed at the bottom of the page. I was furiously clicking on items that were quite obviously out of the ordinary, but for some reason I wasn't coming up with great results.

That being said, when I eventually did realise the reason I was being so terrible, it was incredibly addictive (and equally infuriating) as I tried to find each item in super quick time.

I'm not a fan of the 'energy' bar. Once your energy is depleted you have to 'add more' which you can do with the coins you've collected, or wait it out, but it's not a major issue. You're given enough for a good hour or so of play before you need to replenish.

Colourful, polished and pleasant are the visuals, like none I've seen before in a game like this aside from the predecessor.

No character is more adorable than faithful companion Watson, who can work with you to find that tricky hidden object if you're struggling and need a helping paw.

Those looking for an intriguing story, addictive gameplay and the promise of regular updates should certainly look into giving this game a try. If you enjoyed the first, it's all that and more.

Murder Files: The Enigma Express is out now on iOS devices.
