Streets of Rage is considered some of the best beat ‘em up games in history, with the original trilogy being developed in the 1990s by SEGA. After not seeing a game in 25 years, Streets of Rage 4 was released in 2020, and fans were excited to play a more up-to-date version of the side-scrolling fighter game.

The series of games are well-known for the continuous action and electric music that keeps players in the zone, leading it to obtain the title of ‘cult classic’. Streets of Rage 4 built on the original three games with a new look, a fresh narrative, and a series of dangerously exciting levels.

As the fourth game in the franchise continued to impress fans, and now there is even more content to sink your teeth into; with the newly released Mr. X Nightmare DLC players can enjoy even more exhilarating action. Not only that, but users can access a free update, making the game more enjoyable than ever before.

To celebrate the launch of the DLC, co-developer of the game, Dotemu, has reduced the price of the game by 40% on Steam and Nintendo Switch; the DLC is also 10% cheaper for PlayStation gamers, and 15% off on Switch, Steam and Microsoft PC versions from July 15th to July 29th this year (2021).

The DLC sees new feature, added to Streets of Rage 4, including new playable fighters; Estel Aguirre, as well as the return of Max Thunder and Shiva, who were beloved characters in the second and third Streets of Rage games.

Fans will also be able to test out the new survival mode, in which players can try again and again to survive a multitude of enemy attacks for as long as possible. Each time a user completes a level, they will be able to pick from a randomized collection of stackable perks.

New moves have been added, accessible to players through character customization. The more survival levels players beat, the more moves they can unlock for use in any other game mode.

Other additions include new weapons, training mode (with a leaderboard) and new music to enjoy this updated classic to.

There is also a (separate) free update which adds an in-depth training system, options for colour palettes, a new Mania+ difficulty choice, plus a multitude of refinements and balancing changes in line with feedback collected from the passionate Streets of Rage fans.

Enjoy stunning graphics, new game modes, more playable characters, amazing music and more with the Mr. X Nightmare DLC.

The Mr. X Nightmare DLC is available now on a variety of platforms; the game and its DLC are on offer until July 29th, 2021.
