The Sonic video game franchise has been around for years, with the first ever game releasing onto the Sega Genesis in 1991. Since then, there have been a vast array of games to be played in many ways, such as party and racing games.

Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) had fast success, with kids wanting both the game and the console it was released on. The game followed Sonic, of course, a blue hedgehog who can run at supersonic speeds, on his quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik. In this game, the villain had trapped a number of animals from the island, and Sonic must save them.

In 2010, we saw the release of Sonic Colors, another platform-style game in which Sonic must destroy Doctor Eggman, who wished to enslave an alien race. This game was a whole lot of fun, and has warranted a re-release with updated graphics and even new game modes.

Sonic Colors Ultimate is set to be a brand-new way to play the original game. Sega will be offering players upgrades such as HD updates and visual improvements, including 60 FPS, re-vamped lighting, improved graphics and 4K resolution.

Other new features include a brand-new game mode titled ‘Rival Rush’, in which you go head-to-head with Metal Sonic in order to win amazing rewards. The game will also offer park tokens, which players can collect and use at the in-game store to customize their Sonic with boosts, auras, shoes and gloves.

Sonic Colors Ultimate also has ‘Jade Ghost’ mode, where players can transform the blue hedgehog to be able to pass through solid objects, which may lead to secret areas.

Players can also customize controls for the game, creating more enjoyable gameplay for those who play differently.

Tails Save is also a new feature, in which players can find a floating Tails head to be used if you’re in a pinch and want to be taken back to the last save point. Additionally, players can collect 100 rings and receive temporary invincibility, and a score boost after each level.

The music for Sonic Colors Ultimate has been remixed, which will definitely set the pace for when you are putting an end to Doctor Eggman’s villainous plans.

The game will be available on September 7th, 2021, and can be pre-ordered now! Those who purchase the digital deluxe pack will receive early access, exclusive music, gold and silver wearables, exclusive player icons and a Sonic movie boost.

Sonic Colors Ultimate will be playable on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
