The console has recently been afforded a series of updates that are designed to markedly improve the consumer's experience, with support being added for USB headphones and GameCube controllers.

However, in order to enjoy the feature, gaming enthusiasts will also need to have the USB adapter Nintendo released for the Wii U.

What's more, the GameCube controller support for the Wii U only works if you're playing 'Super Smash Bros'.

The launch of the update comes shortly after figures revealed that two-thirds of all hardware sales in September were made through Nintendo.

The gaming giant didn't think the Nintendo Switch would be a success before it launched, but they've been proved wrong after the new console, along with the Nintendo 3DS systems and the Super Nintendo Entertainment Classic Edition raked in huge sums for the company last month.

Nintendo Switch was the top-selling current-gen console for the month in the U.S., NPD Group reported.

Allied to this, research confirmed that Nintendo has sold more than two million Switch consoles in the U.S. alone and 4.7 million Switch worldwide as of June 30.
