As part of the continuous celebrations surrounding iconic character Sonic the Hedgehog as he celebrates his 30th anniversary, SEGA have revealed that they will be working with Steve Aoki to host a unique virtual event.

Aoki is a world-class EDM artist, DJ, and producer, and will be headlining the exciting virtual event that will be taking place next Tuesday (November 30th, 2021), which is also coincidentally Aoki’s birthday!

Sonic the Hedgehog is a beloved video game icon, and has been for three decades as of November 30th, 2021. His games involve playing as the blue hedgehog himself and running through vast lands in order to collect rings and defeat Doctor Robotnik.

Sonic is still very much in the public eye, as new games, whether solo or immersed with other video game characters, are still being released. He is a staple of old-school gaming, so celebrating his 30th year is a huge achievement and a thrilling time for fans.

Sonic has also had his own movie released last year (2020), which saw the character enlist the help of a human to get his precious rings back. The film was rather well-received as it was filled with comedy and a simple, entertaining story.

The one-of-a-kind concert will be set in a digitally created and fully immersive Sonic Universe; it will transport viewers to iconic environments such as the Green Hill Zone, the Chemical Plant and more as audiences will be rocking out to their favourite tracks from the games.

An hour-long set will feature original songs from Aoki, as well as versions of Sonic tunes that date back to the 16-bit SEGA genesis era to today, remixed by the famous DJ.

The behind-the-scenes video released to advertise the event, which was released earlier this week (November 24th, 2021), shows Aoki speaking about the event and discussing details about it.

The DJ seems thrilled about the upcoming event, which takes place on Tuesday November 30th, 2021, at 12pm PST.
