Yasuhiro Ootori - vice president of mechanical design at the company's hardware design division - revealed they will optimise the control with data on the behaviour of the Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) in each title.

He told 4Gamer.net: "Various games will be released in the future, and data on the APU's behaviour in each game will be collected.

"We have a plan to optimise the fan control based on this data."

Sony recently gave fans a first look at the double sided air infake fan, which measures at 120mm in diameter, and 45mm thick.

As well as a temperature sensor inside the APU, the next generation console will also control the fan speed with three temperature sensors.

It's said that these parameters can be tweaked via online updates.

This means Sony could increase the fan speed to cool everything down if a game is under a heavy load for a significant period of time.

Unlike the PlayStation 4 - which can be a little on the loud side - the PS5 is designed to be much quieter.
