The popular hack and slash and third-person shooter video game was first released by Konami in 2001 for the PlayStation 2 console, and during Sony's Tokyo Game Show briefing on Monday (18.09.17), bosses revealed the game would be getting a remastered port for the PlayStation 4, which will offer VR support.

'Zone of the Enders VR' will also feature "enhanced graphics" and support for 4K resolution, as well as new sound design, including "next-generation surround sound."

Konami said in a statement the game would allow players to "relive the odyssey from a new perspective."

Fans of the game will also no doubt be delighted to hear there will be "brand new features" implemented into the game, although they were not detailed in the briefing.

'Zone of the Enders' is set in the space around Jupiter and follows a young colonist named Leo Stenbuck, one of the few survivors from his colony after it was attacked by the military force BAHRAM. Surviving using a mecha known as Jehuty, Leo is on a mission to return Jehuty to the Space Force and uses the Frame to protect civilians.

The VR version of the game will hit shelves in Spring 2018, and will be compatible with PlayStation VR.
