Weekend binging could cause diseases

Millions of people across the country still believe it is acceptable and healthy to only binge on alcohol once a week and make up for it throughout the rest of the week.

A recent study revealed that many people make up for their 'sinful Saturdays' by laying off the alcohol during the week and making themselves feel good about it.

This system can still lead to diseases and health problems because your body isnt used to the chemicals that are being forced through it.

Dr Mary Selby, from the Royal College of GPs, believes: "There is an attitude that a few good habits during the week puts health in credit so it is OK to have something bad as a reward.

"This perception gap is worrying because it stops so many improving their long-term health."

A Health of the Nation report showed 90 per cent of adults thought that only drinking on a Saturday didnt have that much of an impact on their health.

1.3 million people who do not class themselves as smokers still have the occasional cigarette over the weekend and 66 per cent of people dont class their actions as unhealth and see it as 'neutrilized' if they are 'good' over the weekend.

Dr Selby claimed: "It comes down to our basic human psychology of feeling we deserve a reward when we’ve been good," but 6 million of people hit the gym on a Monday morning to eradicate their guilt.
