Elle Macpherson, Kylie Minogue and Liz Hurley are huge advocates of the detox juice diet, so if you're looking for a last push to get you ready for your bikini this summer why not try it yourself?

Health and wellbeing specialist at Obsidian Retreat in Spain, Andrew West explains how to get bikini beautiful in just a week using this approach.

Andrew is helping people lose more than 9 lbs in 7 days (or in some cases up to 18lbs), and so if you want to get a celeb body on a budget, the Obsidian diet is for you – all you need is a juicer, a blender and lots of fresh food.

Obsidian’s Three Day Detox

He added: “Our Western diet is high in calories but low in nutrition. If you feed your body calorie-rich food, like chocolate it still wants more. So if you eat 2,500 calories of chocolate in a day, apart from feeling sick, you will be hungry again within a few hours. But if you feed the body healthy fruit and vegetables you won’t because it has all the vital elements it needs.

Meal Plans - Days One and Two
Breakfast Juice
Half an avocado
Two apples
Half a cucumber
One handful of spinach
Quarter of a lemon (with the rind left on)
Juice the apples, cucumber, spinach and lemon (don’t peel the fruit/veg and use unwaxed lemons). Add this to the peeled, de-stoned avocado and pulp until smooth in the blender. 
 
Lunch Juice
Two apples
One celery stick
A one-inch piece of beetroot (raw not cooked)
Quarter of a cucumber 
 
Snack Juice
One pear
Two handfuls of spinach
 
Dinner Soup
One carrot – peeled and chopped
One celery stick – chopped
Quarter of a butternut squash - peeled and chopped
One small piece of chilli (to taste)
Half a litre of vegetable stock
Put all the ingredients in a pan and simmer until the squash is soft.  Put the soup into a blender and blend till smooth.   Serve with a sprig of parsley.
 
Day Three
Breakfast Juice
Two Handfuls of mixed frozen fruit
Half a pineapple
One banana
200 ml of soya milk
Juice the pineapple then blend the liquid with the other ingredients until smooth.  
 
Lunch Juice
Two apples
One carrot
Half a cucumber
Quarter of of pepper
A one-inch size piece of beetroot
One small slice of ginger
Juice and serve immediately
 
Snack Juice (as days one and two) 
 
Dinner Soup
One onion – finely chopped
One carrot - peeled and chopped
One red pepper – de-seeded and chopped
Half a litre of vegetable stock
125g red lentils
Herbs; half a teaspoon of coriander, cumin, garam masala, ginger and turmeric
Lightly dry fry the onion then add to the pan with the carrots, pepper and herbs. Heat and stir for one minute and then add the stock. Finally add the lentils and cook until the lentils are soft. Serve warm. 
 
Shopping List (To feed one person for a three day plan)
10 apples
One avocado
Three cucumbers
One bag of spinach
One lemon
Five carrots
Three sticks of celery
One beetroot (raw)
Two pears
One butternut Squash
One chilli
One red pepper
Vegetable stock
One bag of frozen fruit
One pineapple
One banana
200 ml of soya milk
 
The Rules
You cannot have: Coffee, Tea, Fizzy drinks, Extra food, Dairy produce
You can have: Herbal tea, Water – we recommend two litres a day to avoid dehydration
 
Days four onwards
If you want to continue losing weight after the detox, we would suggest having juice for breakfast and lunch, followed by alight, plant-based (vegan/vegetarian) meal in the evening (recipes are available via www.obsidianretreat.com).

Avoid going back to processed foods; the more you can cook yourself the more you will keep the ‘feel good’ factor you experienced during the detox.
