Are you experiencing deep breath moments?

Life is hard, we all know that. But new research indicated that 25% of Brits are finding they experience more challenging deep breath situation today than ten years ago.

The study by Halls, also reveals that 36% of 25-34 year olds are experiencing more deep breath moments compared to a decade ago.

The survey which quizzed more than 2,000 people across Great Britain also highlighted key deep breath moments the population find most challenging in their everyday lives. Surprisingly, the research also revealed that 20% of men feel getting married is the event that has been or will be the biggest deep breath moment of their lives compared to 14% of women.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist Colin Blowers, with over 30 years’ experience, and Halls’ ‘Power of Breath’ ambassador, comments:  “When you’re about to take on a challenge, your heart rate increases and your breathing can become shallower and more frequent. By taking a deep breath you automatically relax and calm your body allowing you to manage your emotions and achieve the results you want. So when you need to rally your resolve to tackle a tricky situation, it’s vital to take a deep breath and focus.”

The poll by Halls, revealed more 25-34 year olds are finding their lives have been made more challenging by certain deep breath moments than any other age group, compared to 10 years ago. When asked what has contributed most to their lives becoming more challenging now, deep breath moments included owning a home, getting married and having children. These moments happens before we encounter situations when you need to take a deep breath and gather your composure ahead of facing a challenging situation.

The poll also shed light on which three professions Brits thought would experience the most deep breath moments in a working day, with 54% believing that a policeman would experience the most, closely followed by a fireman with 53%.

Jonathan Holden, Senior Brand Manager at Halls leading its ‘Breathe Deep, Stay Cool’ campaign said: “We understand life is full of moments that cause you to breathe deeper than ever before and these findings reinforce that. This is why each pack of Halls, including our new milder menthol strength Assorted Citrus flavour, now contains a menthol power metre offering the perfect invigoration choice needed to breathe deep, stay cool and embrace life’s everyday challenges.”
