Trampolining has many benefits

Trampolining has many benefits

With celebrity fans like Olly Murs, Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna and Victoria Beckham – tramplolining is a fitness trend that is here to stay and it is no surprise why.

An all-round work out

Scientists at NASA have shown that trampolining is far more beneficial than jogging. Studies by NASA scientists show that bouncing on a trampoline is 68% more effective than jogging and requires less effort and bouncing (or ‘rebounding’) is great for providing an all over work out.

The study goes on to show that trampolining also develops upper and lower body strength better than weight lifting, without the strain, as well as being more beneficial than swimming as all round exercise. On top of this, it also improves balance and coordination, muscular strength and endurance, lung and cardio capacity, motor skills, rhythm and releases endorphins to make the whole process more enjoyable!

Louis Freeman from Jump 360 in Newcastle said “We offer enjoyable, high energy fitness classes that can help you to burn calories, melt body fat, tone and build your muscles. Keeping fit meets having fun in our sessions!”

A mere ten minutes bouncing burns the same amount of calories as a 30 minute jog and the average adult should get ready to burn up to 1000 calories per hour. Jumping on a trampoline has been shown to be more effective than running or jogging because you can exercise for a longer time without feeling pressure on your joints and there is less chance off injury caused by repeated impact on a hard surface.

Bounce away your blues

Trampolining can actually make you happier! Bouncing releases endorphins - the feel-good chemicals in your brain – in the same way chocolate or hugging does. These endorphins interact with receptors in the brain to reduce our perception of stress, fear and pain as well as creating feeling of pleasure. That means it is pretty difficult to feel blue when you bounce.

Trampolining also increases the oxygen flow to your brain improving your concentration and alertness, helps your body cleanse its self of toxic substances and is a great stress booster.
