Millie is toned and healthy

Millie Mackintosh has always been slim, but she was on a mission before her wedding to Stephen Manderson aka Professor Green, to be healthy, glowing and toned - and it clearly paid off.

The former Made in Chelsea star has adopted a completely holistic way of eating preferring to choose very clean and lean foods and avoid fried foods, wheat and diary.

Millie, 24 in inspired by actress Gwyneth Paltrow and keeps fit with exercise sessions on Xbox fitness working out with Gwyneth's personal trainer and business partner, Tracy Anderson.

Speaking to TV Extra magazine, Millie said: "I feel so energised now. I absolutely love Gwyneth's website, Goop. She looks amazing. Her abs in Iron Man - she was really ripped. An she has Tracy as her trainer, which is quite inspiring."

If you're struggling to fit exercise into your schedule Millie recommends trying Xbox Fitness.

"Xbox Fitness is great for me, as I was finding it hard to get to the gym more than twice a week because of my schedule or travelling, which takes up time. So doing this at home - getting up and doing it first thing is really good for me. Even if you're just doing half an hour a day it's great."

Make-up artist Millie has also noticed a big change in her skin since she's adopted this healthier lifestyle, clearer skin is a big advantage of clean eating.

And she insists that she's not in it to lose weight: "I know that I'm healthy and people are so ready to critique a woman's body image. I think it's horrible to criticise someone's weight - big or small. I've actually put on weight on the scales since I've been working out as I've gained more muscle."

Knowing how hard she would be working in the gym, it was important for Millie to fuel her body correctly too, so now she spends time planning meals and ensuring her cheat meals fit in with her schedule.

"I'm quite a savoury person, so for breakfast it's eggs, salmon, mackerel, avocado or nuts. I've switched olive oil for coconut oil, as it's really good for your skin and moisturises it from inside. A teaspoon of it curbs sugar cravings.

"For lunch, I'll generally do a packed lunch if I'm out and about, with broccoli, chicken breast and some grain. Or if I'm out for lunch, I'll always stick to a salad. It's always hard if there's a bread basket there, though.

"I'll have berried or nuts as healthy snacks. I go to the farmers' market and get fresh food. I really like to make pad Thai but, instead of using noodles, I make noodles out of courgettes using a spiraliser."

Millie knows it takes discipline to eat healthy: "I think it helps when you're food shopping and you know the things to buy. Generally I don't eat dairy or wheat, although when I have a day off I don't care. If you always have the right herbs and spices in your cupboard, you can make any meat or fish taste good. Chilli flakes are my secret ingredient."
