With the winter weather only getting harsher and the temperatures forever dropping there is a constant battle to try and keep your skin and hair moisturised and healthy. The elements are not in our favour but there are many products on the market to reverse the effects the weather may have on your hair. It can be hard to find the right fit as every hair type is different so I have chosen 5 of my favourite hair masks that will work with you to fight off the cold and help keep your hair silky, smooth and healthy throughout winter.

OGX Argan Oil of Morocco

Argan Oil is a key ingredient to help keep the hair from getting dry, it is rich in moisture and helps repair and treat the hair. This type of mask is perfect for those who have medium to thick hair and are looking to improve the texture and manageability, as the winter months are upon us I have found that I have been partial to putting my hair in a bun or ponytail which can already be damaging to the hair so using this type of mask can help reduce the damage done. To add a generous sized amount to damp hair, the amount you use will depend on the length and thickness of the hair. Leave to soak on the hair for 5-10 minutes to help quench your hair's thirst and then rinse out. You can then style however you desire and watch as your hair shines like never before! This can be found on Look Fantastic, Amazon or Superdrug.

Coco and Eve Super Nourishing

This is another mask which is spot on for dry, damaged and dull hair. This 5-in-1 treatment helps to replenish dryness and intensely hydrates, locking moisture into the cuticle to give luminous shine and repair hair from the inside out, taming frizz and minimising split ends. Who is going to turn that down? With ingredients such as raw virgin coconut oil, shea butter, argan and linseed oils this miracle cream helps to cure breakage, detangle locks (without weighing it down) and reduces frizz. To apply a large helping to your hair, use a brush to comb through to help detangle any knots without tearing the hair and leave on for 10 minutes or longer. You can find this at Amazon, Beauty Bay and Coco and

Marc Anthony Grow Long

For those of us with extra long hair we are no strangers to damage and breakage especially as the hair gets longer. This is because the longer the hair the older it is and the weaker the strands are leaving us with split ends and in need of a haircut. However there are many things to be done before you brave the chop, this hair mask is made specifically for long hair and it instantly repairs damaged strands to help improve strength and appearance. Using ingredients such as Hydrolyzed Keratin to smooth the hair and reduce frizz, whilst the caffeine and ginseng conditions the hair creating mass of shiny manageable hair. To use apply a large amount to the hair and comb through to help the effectiveness of the mask, leave on for 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Find this helpful mask at Amazon, LookFantastic or Beauty Bay.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle

If you want a hair mask that leaves your hair smelling like a tropical fruit bowl for days then this is definitely one for you! The Aussie 3 minute miracle helps to replenish the moisture that is essential for your hair all whilst taming and tangles and leaves your hair unbelievably shiny. With ingredients such as Australian Riberry & Cupuaçu butter from down under it helps to calm any unruly hair and make it more manageable for you. To use do what it says in the name, put a large amount on your hair and rake through, leave on for 3 minutes and rinse thoroughly, this is perfect for using in the morning before work or quickly before a night out.
