Male or female- you might be considering a hair transplant if your hair has begun to thin. If you are- here are some things to consider first.
Hair is a complex thing-everyone’s hair grows at different rates and has a unique structure, hair follicles and shaft within the skin- so the growth stages, intermediate and shedding stages are different for everyone.
There are three main types of hairs- Villus hairs, Terminal Hairs and Intermediate Hairs.
Male Hair loss
Most men have a receding hairline if they begin to notice any hair loss. This is usually inherited, however there are many reasons why men lose their hair. Those who lose hair at a young age tend to have more extensive baldness later in life. Male pattern baldness is characterised by a receding hairline and loss of hair on the top of the head.
Female Hair loss
Women typically fall into three categories; androgenetic alopecia, Telogen effluvium, and non-pattern hair loss. The first is the most common, but the pattern of hair loss is less predictable in women than it is in men. Telogen effluvium can be a result of medications, dietary shifts or stress or a combination of all three. Non-pattern hair loss encapsulates all the other types of hair loss.
So what are my options?
Advanced Tricho Pigmentation
Advanced Tricho Pigmentation aims to replicate the appearance of hair with natural looking results. It imitates the look of shaved hair follicles and can create delicate hair strokes along the brow line.
A specially trained doctor takes hair follicles from the donor area of the body- generally the back of the neck- and transfers them to the recipient area during a FUE transplant. It is minimally invasive so you will be fully conscious throughout.
Eyebrow Hair Transplant
Eyebrows can also thin along with head hair because of overplucking, alopecia or scarring. Donor hair is taken from the back of the scalp using the FUE technique from above and prepared under a microscope before being inserted into thinning areas.
