Stained lips will see you through to winter as well

Stained lips are the easy-to-wear beauty trend this season.

Wear them during the day and in the evening too.

You don’t have to worry about colour transfers either, so you can wear this trend when you go out for drinks, for something to eat or a date, when you know you’re guaranteed a kiss at the end.

This look was seen at Donna Karen, Erdem, Giles, Issey Miyake and Prabal Gurung, the models were given a hint of colour with a simple lip stain so it looks as though they’ve just been bitten.

Try pink, red, burgundy and deep wine colours, whichever works best with your skin tone.

With the darker colours go for matter skin with little colour, definitely shun the blusher and eyeshadow. A little setting powder on top of your foundation and a hint of mascara is all you’ll need for a truly couture look.

If you’re trying out different shades of pink work this with dewy, glowing skin which will give contrast against the matte stain on your lips.

For this look you’ll need to ensure that lips are well moisturised before, so it’s a good choice to sleep with your lips covered in Vaseline or any other deep conditioning balm.

And it’s important not to forget to exfoliate lips too, which helps to get rid of all of the dead skin. Using an old, dry toothbrush is the best way to do this. But there are lip exfoliators now available, MAC have a luxurious option.

Create the look using one of the number of stains available on the market from Clinque, Revlon, Rimmel and plenty of other places.

Or make your own with your favourite lipstick. All you have to do is apply your colour with your finger sparingly and finish with a layer or Lipcote for staying power. This way you don’t have to worry about finding a shade you like.
