We take a look through the hair highs and lows of Cannes

There’s not been a day gone by that we haven’t seen some beauties grace the red carpet in Cannes for the last 10 days, and as well as the stunning gowns and exquisite jewellery, there have been plenty of hair highs as well.

There have been some intricate and then flowing hairstyles at Cannes as with the help of the experts we take a look through the hair highs and lows.

Cara Delevigne's blow out was a standout look

Carmen Amelia, Creative Director of Blown Avenue has commented on her favourite three key looks from the red carpet:

“I love this look! We’ve seen Cara Delevingne break away from her signature smooth locks on the red carpet with this soft curl which has been pinned over to one side. She looks super glamorous but so sophisticated. One must have product to re-create this look would be a texturizing spray or dust.

Georgia May Jagger looked beautiful in Roberto Cavalli

Georgia May Jagger played it safe on the red carpet with a deep side parting and a slightly undone wave. You simply can’t go wrong with this classic and beautiful look. One Must have product to re-create this look would be high-shine spray for fabulous glossy hair like Georgia’s.

Nicole's hair has been a talking point throughout Cannes

“This is by far my favourite look at Cannes, it’s just genius! Nicole Kidman oozes such class with this ‘off the runway’ modern mohican on the red carpet. I love the way it is so simple and sleek yet it captures your eye and you can’t help but stare! One must have product to re-create this look would be a strong hold hairspray.”

Cindy Crawford

Now we have the JOICO European Design Team talk about who made a real impact on the red carpet, and who didn’t cut the mustard.

Ryan Nicoletti-Dowd: Favourite brunette?

Cindy Crawford looked classically stunning in a white Roberto Cavalli dress. It really enhanced her sun kissed brunette locks which together created an understated, yet highly glamorous look.

Cindy’s colour would have been achieved by applying a toffee base colour with staggered caramel and pecan slices. This fusion creates a delicious mix of head turning tones. Perfect for summertime, this is a great colour technique to punch up brunette tones. The end result doesn’t require the high maintenance that is associated with highlights, but still oozes maximum impact.”

Kate Cunningham: Favourite long hair style?

Cara Delevingne hair styling cleverly balances out her elegant black lace dress which helps her stay true to her youthful edge. The swept to one side style gives her two different looks to be photographed; soft curls that frame the face, and hair that is pulled back to display her Chopard jewellery.

To get this look, apply JOICO JoiLotion £9.95 to freshly washed hair to gives the hair movable hold with a healthy shine. Part the hair and then blow-dry with a large round brush to create volume and bounce. Once dry, tong the hair, spraying each section of hair using

Nicole Kidman's hair colour compliments

JOICO Power Spray £10.95 as you go. Once complete, break up the curls using your fingers, and brush your hair one third of the way round the back of your head and grip into place.”

Gill Berry: Best red hair of the festival?

“I love Nicole's strawberry blonde hair which compliments her pale, rose coloured skin and ice blue eye. It’s a great colour for the summer; very natural with flashes of beige and gold.

This colour works best on light brown to blonde hair. To get this look, ask your colourist to use JOICO Vero Color Ultra High Lift shades using a balayage technique, concentrating more around the hair line. If like Nicole your skin tone is fair, request soft peachy and golden tones.”

Lewis Moore: Biggest festival faux pas?

“My biggest faux pas has to be Amitabh Bachchan at the opening the festival. Where do I start? His colour is very blotchy, uneven and unnatural, and his hair style does nothing to enhance his look. His choice of outfit has made him look very bulky too. This is one of the most high profile film events in the industry; I think he could have made more of an effort, to say the least!”
