Linda says her skincare range is luxurious yet afforable

Linda Lusardi worked hard to create a skincare range that would provide women with all of the key ingredients to help stave of ageing, but an affordable cost.

Here we speak to the former model and business woman about Lusardi: My Miracle, how she takes care of her skin and her secret to looking so good at 55.

Linda has worked with skincare experts in Switzerland to develop this range and the reason it is so successful is the key ingredients: Caviar extract and Swiss Glacial water.  Caviar extract is enriched with Omega 3 fatty acids which help to make skin youthful and supple while Swiss Glacial water is rich in minerals that moisturise and energise.

Tell us a little bit about your skincare range.

It’s a luxury range at an affordable price. It’s made in a beautiful laboratory in Switzerland, the best in the world that makes La Prairie, Crème de la Mer and Bulgari, I have the same chemist working on it. It has all of the key ingredients like caviar, glacier water and edelweiss. Those other products retail something like £150 for a 30ml pot but my day and night creams are affordable products, they’re £20-£25, it varies.

When I went to the factory, the chemist that works on those ranges and on my ranges, chooses to take mine home at night and use that.

Edelweiss is really good for healing and calming the skin and helping with dark circles.

There’s something in the range for everybody, we’ve got night cream, day cream, and neck and décolleté cream which is the newest product to the range and it’s absolutely fabulous. Eye serum, line lift serum for the rest of your face and cleanser radiance which includes a good quality muslin cloth to help provide some light exfoliation to the skin.

It’s been selling really well and people love it. Once you use my range once you tend to keep coming back, which I’m very pleased about.

Why did you want to create a skincare range?

It was frustration from looking at the brands in the shops, not being happy with the results, wanting to buy those really expensive brands but thinking that I can’t justify spending that as I’m a mother of two. I thought, surely there must be something out there at an affordable price that has great ingredients, and there wasn’t really. Along with Ideal World we sourced the factory and the laboratory and decided to do a range of my own where I could bring women those luxury ingredients at a reasonable price.

How involved were you in the process?

Oh very involved; going back and forth to Switzerland all of the time, they’d send me samples. The night cream has hyaluronic acid which is naturally found in the skin and depletes as you get older and that was the product that I sent back and forth most because I wanted it to be perfect. It’s a restore night cream so it works as a treatment overnight basically.

You’ve always looked after your skin, so what’s always been important to you in your routine?

Always, however drunk you might be, take your make-up off. Never go to sleep with your foundation on because your skin relaxes at night and your pores are open so the last thing you want going in them is cloggy make-up. You need to use a good moisturiser, a good cleanser and you need to remember that what you put onto your skin goes into it too, and it doesn’t just sit on top.

I also take Omega 7 supplements because it’s like a moisturiser from the inside and goes through all of the mucus membrane in your body, your eyes and your mouth. It’s also good for women who have been through menopause and it’s also good for your skin too.

If you watch what you put on your skin, as you get older when you start losing those vital ingredients that you need, like Omega 7, start to take supplements to help with this.

Other than products, what else do you do to look after your skin?

I always use a high factor when I’m in the sun, I love sunbathing and I haven’t stopped and I won’t but I do protect my skin a little better when I’m in the sun.

Sleep is very important for your skin, you need 8 hours to help it and of course drink plenty of water.

How much pressure do you think is put on women to look young?

I think that there’s been pressure on women to look young. None of us enjoy looking in the mirror, I don’t care if you say you don’t, because I think it bothers everyone to look in the mirror and see the lines appearing. I don’t want to go under the knife; I don’t want to have anything done yet. I’m not going to say never, but at the moment I don’t and if I can make my skin the best it can be for me then that’s great.

My skin is currently the best my skin has ever been, I had spots when I was younger and I’ve got pock marks and things but I do get compliments for how unlined I am for 55.

Are there any other products that you would like to add into the range?

Yes, we’re looking to add BB Creams, eye pens and different things you can keep in your handbag for topping up throughout the day. We are going to be adding new products to the range this year.

If you could pick a couple of items from the range to start off, which would they be?

If you were starting out with your skincare routine, I would go for the day cream, the night cream and the eye serum.
