Hollywood Glamour nail art

Nail art is definitely the stand out beauty trend of 2012, and it’s only going to continue this year.

Max Factor Nail artist, Zarra Celik, has created the Hollywood Glamour Nails for the brand which has created beauty looks for so many of icons.

Mr Max Factor worked with some of the beauties of the past, creating their iconic looks. From Jean Harlow’s flirtatious 30’s style to Ava Gardner’s deep red lip, Max Factor was at the forefront of Hollywood glamour.

Inspired by the rich heritage, Zarra create a Hollywood Glamour nail design influence by Ana’s beloved deep red lip.

Zarra says: “I wanted to create a nail design which encompassed the classic Hollywood style colours, but in a modern way. I looked back at some of the most iconic looks seen on Ava Gardner and Marlene Dietrich and decided to play on the deep red lip seen on Ava in the 30’s.

“The great thing about this nail look is that it’s easily recreated and you can add your own style and finish to really make it your own.”

Here are the step by step tips, by Zarra, on how you can recreate the look at home:

Prepare the nails, cutting with clippers and filing them if necessary. I love a soft oval nail, it elongated the hands and creates an elegant look.

Then buff the nails with a 240 grit buffer, which is not too harsh on the nail bed.

Wipe over with nail polish remover to get rid of any dust so you have a smooth clean nail ready for polish.

Paint two coats of Max Factor Glossfinity in Desert Sand over the whole nail.

Using a small thin brush, paint a lip shape on the tip of the nail using Max Factor Glossfinity in Red Passion. This can be as little or as large as you like, the trick is to start at the lowest point (in the middle) and work your way outwards.

Paint a thin black line near the cuticle using a small nail brush. This was influenced by Marlene Dietrich’s thin eyebrows and so ties the whole design together and adds an extra dimension.

Finish with a coat of Max Factor Glossfinity Top Coat over the whole nail.
