We've had bold lips, perfect contouring, smoky eyes and clean-cut eyebrows, but this season's red carpet make-up look is a much softer venture. The Golden Globes were a perfect example of that sparkling, feminine look, and it's continuing across every red carpet.

In the wake of celebrities the likes of Alicia Keys deciding to forego make-up altogether, stars have started to opt for a more natural look for official events. No longer are celebrities drawing attention away from their gowns with dark eyebrows and over-lined lips, now they're reducing their beauty steps to just a few sweeps of shimmer eyeshadow and matching blush.

Pink and gold shimmer eyeshadows have replaced the brown and nude matte tones, while pink shimmer lipstick with a glossy finish (or simply the gloss on its own) is the new thing. Plus, a generous amount of shimmery blush is also a must, as well as a softer approach on the eyebrow.

Long and thick eyelashes are still important and occasionally a little black liner on the lid for hooded eyes, but other than that the dark eye has pretty much gone for the majority. You'll still get a red or dark lipstick here and there, but pink and nude tones are reigning.

Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman showed off their simple make-up looks with gold/yellow and silver gowns respectively, and for pale girls like Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone, the make-up allowed them to embrace their natural porcelain skin tone.

For dark girls the likes of Janelle Monae and Sofia Vergara, the look also worked a treat, though the latter darkened the tones with bronze eyes and lips. Winona Ryder adopted a more gothic twist with lip liner and a hint of purple on the eyelids, though her young 'Stranger Things' co-star Millie Bobby Brown favoured a bright pink lip and light shadow.
