Lily Cole thinks vintage clothing is great way to be sustainable.

The British model has shared her top tips for leading an eco-friendly lifestyle in Stylist magazine, starting with only buying items from second-hand shops and ethically-sourced brands.

She told the publication: "I really like the animal welfare ethics behind what Stella McCartney does and I'm a fan of Erdun, Ali Hewson's company, which promotes fair trade in Africa.

"Wearing vintage is a good way of being sustainable because you're reusing and recycling. I love Soho's Bang Bang Clothing Exchange and Retro Women in Notting Hill."

Lily is equally environmentally conscious when it comes to her skincare routine, shopping exclusively for brands that support animal rights and fair trade.

The 26-year-old star explained: "The Body Shop, Dr Hauschka and Young Living all source their products under fair trade conditions. I always make sure I have Eve Lom cleanser and Dr Hauschka eye cream in my bathroom cabinet."

The flame-haired beauty also tries to eat as much locally sourced, healthy produce as possible.

She added: "I always seek out local fresh produce ... I'll pick up fresh vegetables, oats, cacao, hummus or tofu."

Lily boasts a sustainable jewellery line to her name, which she developed in partnership with Sky Rainforest Rescue after spending time in the Amazon rainforest, and has now teamed up with ethical French company Veja to design a limited-edition footwear collection.
