Danny Boyle's highly anticipated 127 Hours stars Golden Globe winner James Franco (Milk) as Aaron Ralston stars in 127 Hours, which is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston's remarkable adventure to save himself after a falling boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah.

Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, abseil a 65 foot rock face and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued.

To celebrate the upcoming release we take a look at James Franco’s other notable roles and talents.

Actor

His most notable roles include:

· James Dean in the biographical film James Dean - It was the role that made every sit up and take notice as Franco went on to a Golden Globe for his performance

· Harry Osborn in Spiderman - 2002 brought the actor his first taste of the big budget blockbuster when he starred alongside Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire, a role he reprised in Spider Man 2.

Spider Man went on to take in excess of $821 million at the box office while the 2004 sequel was almost as successful with a gross of $783 million.

· Saul in Pineapple Express - Franco has never been one to stick with just one genre as he took on comedy in 2008 as he teamed up with Seth Rogen.

This laugh out loud movie, which you really should try and catch if you have the chance, saw Franco pick up another Golden Globe nod.

· Allen Ginsberg in Howl - He has returned to the biopic picture with his portrayal of Allen Ginsberg in Howl, which is directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman.

· Fabious in the upcoming Your Highness - This is a movie that we should all be keeping an eye out for as Franco teams up with Natalie Portman, Danny McBride and Zooey Deschanel for what should be a great comedy.

· And Aaron Ralston in 127 Hours - The new movie from Danny Boyle, his first since Slumdog Millionaire, has already won over the critics on the festival circuit.

· He says that he has been painting longer than acting
· His first work was exhibited at the Glϋ Gallery in Los Angeles
· His ‘bad’ cartoons were bought by Blink-182’s Tom DeLange and Sharon Stone.
· His last exhibit, The Dangerous Book Four Boys, was shown in Tribeca, New York this past summer.
