America's First Lady, Michelle Obama is set to be honoured by the Council of Fashion Designers of America at their awards gala in June, associated press reports.
She will receive a special tribute from the groups board of directors and a grant will be established in her name to help a young fashion company.
CFDA president Steven Kolb explained: "We wanted to acknowledge her in a serious way for her commitment to American fashion."
Michelle will be invited to the event, which is moving from the New York Public Library to Lincoln Center, but Kolb added that he wasn't sure that she will attend: "We'll do whatever we can to get her here, but the award isn't about getting her to come."
