Matt Damon

Matt Damon

Matt Damon has been one of the most hard working actors this year with a total of five films under his belt this year.

And he has produced a series of great works - kicking off at the beginning of the year with a remake of True Grit; a movie that teamed him up with Oscar winning filmmakers Joel and Than Coen.

Damon took on the role of LaBoeuf in the film and was totally superb as the Texas Ranger hot on the heels of a killer.

He banters well with Jeff Bridges through out the movie - the two having completely different ideas on how to catch the murderer.

He followed this up with Hereafter, which saw him reunite with Clint Eastwood, a movie that tackled the idea of death before moving onto The Adjustment Bureau.

This has been my favourite Damon movie of 2011 as he starred alongside Emily Blunt in this romance drama.

The driving force behind the film is the central relationship between the two characters - Damon and Blunt really do have some great chemistry.

There is a genuine connection between the pair through the movie and you find yourself willing them on to be together despite all the odds.

The movie was a box office hit and The Adjustment Bureau really has been one of my favourite movies of this year.

Another great movie for Damon this year was Contagion - where he joined an all star cast in the Steven Soderbergh directed project.

Damon takes on the role of a father who comes face to face with the virus when his wife and step son die after contracting it.

This is a very intelligent movie that delivers a very frightening reality - Soderbergh creates so much more tension and unease than movies like this have done in the past.

And there are more Damon projects heading our way in the new year including We Bought A Zoo - which is directed by Cameron Crowe.

He has also completed work on Elysium and has Liberace in pre-production.
