To back this up Vision Express carried out it's own research that found when it comes to being taken seriously, glasses put us in the frame as over 60% of Brits saying they would wear glasses for an important work meeting and over half for a job interview.

Interestingly, although we're happy to be ourselves in frames on a romantic break (49%) and when on a date (39%), it's a different matter when it comes to our online persona. More than a third of the 2,000 UK adults polled by OnePoll for Vision Express admitted to slipping off their glasses for a social media photo, proving we really are a 'selfie-obsessed' nation. The same applies behind closed doors with three out of four Brits taking their glasses off in the bedroom.

With 64% admiting glasses were largely associated with the office it's little wonder that 43% of Britons find buying glasses too expensive with more than a third admitting they find choosing the perfect pair stressful.

Vision Express brings out it's 'Exclusive Brands' collection this spring, which promises to help Britons take style seriously with a high quality, value for money alternative to designer glasses.

Gemma Sheppard Glasses Styling Tips

if you need to look and feel good in your glasses, they are a reflection of your personality.

Remember that glasses are accessories that can change your look and enhance your features.

Look for special detailing on the frames to enhance the overall look of your glasses.

Glasses look good on everyone, it's just about choosing the right frame for you.

Choosing your glasses:

Experiment! Try lots of different frames and make sure you throw in a few wild cards!

Next, narrow down your selection to the frames you really like and try to identify what it is you like about them.

People are often taken aback with their initial look in the mirror as you may be trying on glasses for the first time, or it may be a look you hadn't considered before.

Don't be afraid to go back to the frames you dismissed earlier - once you've got used to trying on different looks you may be surprised how much you like them!

Don't feel rushed - give yourself enough time to choose the right frame for you.

When choosing your glasses, consider your face shape, hair colour and skin tone

Face Shape

If you have an oval face choose frames that are wider than the broadest part of your face and avoid frames the are too deep or narrow.

Oval and round frames look great on square faces as they will soften than angles of the jaw line.

Round faces should choose angular narrow frame styles that will help lengthen the face.

Hair colour

Blondes can go for lightweight styles with delicate colour effects

Bronze and warm colours look great on brunettes

If you have grey hair look for rich deep colours as well as pewter or metal styles

Skin tone

Golds, bronzes and reds really compliment warm skin tones

Cooler skin tones should look for more steely colours like blue, jade, silver and amethyst

Strong block colours make a statement, whereas tonal colours look good on most people, for instance tortoiseshell textures reflect the light and can be a great alternative to bold block colours
