Giorgio Armani is thrilled Leonardo DiCaprio wore one of his designs to the Oscar Awards last night (28.02.16).

The Italian fashion designer is honoured the 'Revenant' actor was wearing an all-black Armani suit when he picked up the prize for Best Actor - his first ever Academy Award - at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday night.

Speaking to WWD.com, the designer said of the handsome star's impressive win: "Leonardo DiCaprio deserves it. Thank goodness he was wearing Armani."

The creator of the luxury brand - which prides itself on classic tailored menswear - reportedly sent the 41-year-old hunk a good luck letter prior to receiving the remarkable accolade.

However, Leonardo wasn't the only star to grace the red carpet wearing the iconic fashion house's brand.

Giorgio joked: "Also Cate Blanchett was not half bad."

The 'Carol' actress oozed glamour and class at yesterday's star-studded event when she rocked up to the red carpet in her gorgeous Armani Prive dress featuring a small train.

The 46-year-old beauty's baby blue frock, which hugged her curves and enhanced her tiny waist, was embellished with soft pink and teal flowers, a handful of tear-drop crystals and beautiful feather detailing around the bust to draw attention to the deep-plunge neckline and her ample cleavage.
