The 25-year-old actress thinks her quirky assassin alter ego Villanelle from the BBC series doesn't have a particular style and has praised show's costume designer, Phoebe de Gaye for her bold fashion choices.

In an interview with Vogue, she said: "What I love about Villanelle is that I don't think she has a particular style. I feel like she'll buy things just because she likes them, whereas if you looked at my wardrobe from the past five years there's an obvious trend, a theme running through it.

"She dresses for herself and no one else, that's what was great about Phoebe de Gaye she chose things that I would never normally pick up or try on.

"It was always just wonderful because it would depend what city she is in, and that would influence the way that she dressed."

The drama series was written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge - who created comedy series 'Fleabag' - and Jodie insists being around the 33-year-old writer-and-actress is "good for your soul".

She said: "There is only one Phoebe Waller-Bridge, you meet so many people in your life and you know when you're like; I'll never meet anyone else like you. She's completely herself and to be around that is very good for your soul, because it's so refreshing."

Jodie - who stars in 'Killing Eve' with Sandra Oh, who plays MI5 officer Eve Polastri - admits there aren't many roles which allow an actress to explore so many different personality traits and she found her entire journey with Villanelle to be very exciting.

She said: "She's just so full of life and to be able to explore that and not hold back, to just push it and push it and push it."
