The fashion designer tragically passed away on Saturday (18.11.17) aged 77 years old, and heartfelt tributes have come flooding in by models and singers who have praised the late mogul for his work.

The 16-year-old catwalk icon - who is the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber - posted a sweet photograph of her embracing the businessman on her Instagram account.

She captioned the post: "my heart breaks to wake up to this news. there is no one who will ever replace you in this world. you spread love everywhere you went, and i was just one of the few who were lucky enough to experience it. the confidence and power you gave women was truly inspiring. we were so fortunate to have had you share your beautiful vision with us. (sic)."

Although Kaia is "beyond grateful" to have known Azzedine, she believes he was "gone too soon".

Her post continued: "I will love you forever and am so beyond grateful to have known you. gone too soon mr. alaïa (sic)."

Fellow fashion muse Karlie Kloss has also taken to her photo-sharing site to reminisce over the "true angel", and praise him for empowering females with his creations.

Alongside a string of images of the blonde-haired beauty beside Azzedine, she wrote: "The world has lost a true angel. I am saddened by the news of Monsieur Alaïa passing, but feel incredibly grateful to have known the man behind the legend. When you slip on an Alaïa creation, you turn into the most powerful and confident version of yourself. Similar to the way his designs make you feel special and embraced, his energy had the same affect. (sic)."

The Kode With Klossy founder has also hailed Azzedine for making a "profound impact" on the fashion industry, as well as on her career.

She continued: "Thank you Monsieur Alaïa for your profound impact on the fashion industry, on my career, and in my life. I am grateful to know you and to learn from you. You will live on forever in the hearts of all you've inspired. (sic)."

And the 25-year-old has admitted she has "never" felt as "special" as she did when she modelled for the couturier in 2011 and earlier this year.

She concluded: "I met Monsieur Alaïa for the first time in 2011 when I was invited to a casting for his highly anticipated couture show in Paris. I remember walking into his atelier, between the mountains of fabrics and dresses, and thinking: 'if only these walls could talk.' Before I knew it, I was sitting at his dinner table, between Alaïa and his dog Dine Dine speaking nearly fluent French. This was something I'd never done so well before -- I credit the adrenaline and the sheer amazement of what I was experiencing. I floated through dinner and back into the atelier where I tried on dress after dress for the entire atelier. He gave me the privilege of opening his final two couture shows in 2011 and 2017. Never had I felt more special or grateful. May you Rest In Peace. (sic)."
