Karl Lagerfeld and Choupette

Karl Lagerfeld and Choupette

Karl Lagerfeld and his cat Choupette have been immortalised in plastic.

The Chanel designer and his beloved furry friend have been turned into a toy figurine as part of Japanese-inspired company tokidoki's latest capsule collection, which also features clothing inspired by the fashion mogul.

Karl said: "I am very flattered that I have become a tokidoki. I always loved them and I am very happy to be one of them."

The limited-edition line also boasts two other figurines, a Karl-emblazoned clutch bag, printed jeans and casual T-shirts and vest tops.

It will be available on Net-A-Porter's website as well as at the Karl Lagerfeld concept stores in Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam.

Holli Rogers, Net-A-Porter's fashion director, told Vogue.co.uk: "We love the tokidoki X Karl Lagerfeld collection. Everyone in the office adores Mr Choupette, one of three dolls in the range.

"The accessories and ready to wear pieces are so cute and covetable, in particular the Super Karl vest top. Karl really is everyone's fashion superhero!"

It comes as no surprise the 79-year-old star is pleased at with the statuette of him cuddling his cat. He is so besotted with Choupette - who has two maids to provide her with round-the-clock care and her own iPad - that he admitted last month he is disappointed there is "no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals."
