Karl Lagerfeld is launching a new range of candles.

The 79-year-old creative director of French fashion house Chanel has signed a licensing agreement with Welton London to create, produce and distribute a range of candles.

According to WWD, the scented products will be available across Europe, America and the Middle East and the first three candles will be advertised in October.

This new homeware range comes ahead of the launch of his next perfume, and Karl insists he has no plans to retire in the near future.

Despite his eccentric reputation he claims he "can't be that horrible" because some of his employees have spent their lives working for him.

He previously said: "Why should I slow down? What a bore! I have a very healthy life: I don't smoke, I don't eat too much, I don't drink, don't take drugs. My head is like a crystal ball and I have no need of slowing down.

"You know some people have worked with me for 30 years and never had another job, so I can't be that horrible."
