The 84-year-old fashion designer - who is the creative director of the fashion house Chanel, Fendi, and founded her eponymous label - has admitted he has an interest in the art form because he says it "completes the circle" between his "artistic and professional restlessness."

Speaking to Vogue Online about his passions, the creative mastermind said: "Today, photography is part of my life - it completes the circle between my artistic and professional restlessness."

This news comes as the businessman selected his favourite images from the Paris Photo exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris, France.

From the exhibition the star selected an image of Christy Turlington taken by photographer Patrick Demarchelier, which captures her wearing nothing but a Jaspar Conran rose-shaped hat, as well as a string of other artworks.

And the style icon is set for a busy few weeks ahead as he has teamed up with Claridge's to design their annual Christmas tree, which will be unveiled in the popular hotel on November 22.

Karl has hinted he is honoured to join forces with the London hotspot on their festive showstopper because he believes Christmas trees are the "strongest souvenir" of his "happy childhood."

Speaking about the project, he said: "Christmas trees are the strongest 'souvenir' of my happy childhood."

Meanwhile, Karl - who has boasted a successful career at the helm of the fashion industry since the 1950s - has revealed he would love to expand his entrepreneurial skills and launch his own chain of luxury hotels named Karl Lagerfeld Hotels and Resorts at the Lisboa Palace Complex in Macau, China, in the future.

Speaking previously, Karl's representative said: "[It] is in the process of studying other opportunities to open other properties around the world."
