Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton is to open its new museum in October.

The fashion house will open the doors of its state-of-the-art new museum, Foundation Louis Vuitton, on October 26 in the outskirts of Paris, France.

The new landmark, it's hoped, will be a cultural hot-zone much like the Louvre and other tourist attractions.

The museum will exhibit the corporate art collection owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, as well as specially commissioned art attractions. The building also has an auditorium which could potentially serve as a performance space for concerts and live shows.

LVMH boss Bernard Arnault described the art collection to be displayed as a "pretty eclectic mix, but it is true that I am quite involved in the choice".

Appearing on French TV station TF1, he added of the museum: "This a small payback to the public, and to our employees."

The foundation behind the museum previously said its aim is "to encourage and promote contemporary artistic creation both in France and internationally".

Bernard hired Canadian architect Frank Gehry to design the modern-looking building, and Frank has even designed a limited edition Louis Vuitton handbag to tie in with the museum's opening in October.
