Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce
Stefano Gabbana has made his feelings for business partner Domenico Dolce quite clear in an open love letter he has penned.
Stefano and Domenico have worked together for years and founded their label Dolce & Gabbana back in 1985, the pair were previously romantically involved for 20 and now Stefano wants everyone to know his feelings.
The 51-year-old fashion designer published an article this week in Italy’s daily newspaper, Corriere della Sera, to publicy express his feelings for his former lover.
The pair - who met over the phone while Stefano sought a job with Domenico's then employer, Giorgio Correggiari - split in 1999 but have remained close friends and helmed the brand which went on to turn over more than $1 billion a year, reports Telegraph.co.uk.
The letter reads: "Even today, thanks to that feeling that binds us inextricably to each other, we will continue to face the happiness and the sorrows that life reserve to us. You are my family.
"Many years have passed since I first heard your voice on the other end of the phone, everything has changed and yet nothing has changed. The love that I felt then, has only been transformed, and it continues to give me so many beautiful feelings. You are and you will always be unique in my life, so as the letter I am writing to you."
The publication of his heartfelt words coincided with the first day of Milan Fashion Week and will be read out at the 'Festival delle lettere' in the city on October 3, along with letters from other Italian stars who penned notes to their own exes.
Stefano - who signs off the letter with a simple "I love you" - also opened up about the couple's ability to finish each other's sentences and credits the "strength of their love" for the success of the high fashion brand.
He wrote: "During interviews, the sentences we exchange chase quickly, like a game of ping pong: I begin a speech and you end it, you have not even finished to express a thought that I interrupt you, reply and I finish your earlier idea.
"We have created together Dolce & Gabbana from scratch and with the strength of our love we have achieved everything we have."
