Sandra Bullock looked beautiful in Lanvin

The SAG Awards took place over the weekend and there was plenty of beautiful gowns on display, Cate Blanchett, Amy Adams and Lupita Nyong'o we’re looking at you, and there were some successful fashion risks too.

We don’t usually see style risks taken at Awards ceremonies like SAG, Golden Globes or the Oscars, but it’s a pleasant surprise when they do – and more importantly, when they work out.

Sandra Bullock and Lena Headey were perfect examples of this over the weekend.

Sandra, who’s had quite the stylish and colourful run of late, chose a beautiful metallic green dress from Lanvin, inspired by the Pre-Fall 14 collection.

The strapless dress with wrap detail on the skirt was an interesting choice and one that most certainly paid off.

Although some might argue that she looks like a sweet wrapper, we happen to think this gorgeous hue looks divine on the actress and she wears it well.

Lena Headey, who stars in Game of Thrones, opted for a bold printed gown from the Jenny Packham Spring 2014 collection.

Printed gowns are few and far between at Awards ceremonies, but this look from Lena has undoubtedly paid off.

With plenty to look at on the dress, the halter neckline, pussy bow and stripes going in numerous directions, she thankfully kept the styling simple with a fuss-free top knot and a pop of colour via her coral lips.

One fashion risk that didn’t work though and we’re a little upset to admit this, Kerry Washington.

Our usual favourite on the red carpet had a rare misstep with a custom Prada ensemble.

The pregnant actress chose a pink embellished crop top with a navy full skirt; it’s the crop top that offends more than anything with this look. Of course you can highlight your baby bump whilst pregnant, just put it away under some clothing whilst on the red carpet.

Fingers crossed we see her maternity style improve as the months go on.
