Fyodor Golan SS15

Fyodor Golan SS15

For Spring Summer 2015 Fyodor Golan present a collection celebrating digital Romanticism, and this was further enhanced through their relationship with Microsoft for the showcase.

The live catwalk show was captured live and projected in real time onto a pyramid screen within the catwalk-merging fashion and smart technology.

The designer's muse had an expressive and adolescent spirit, celebrating plastication of modernity, finding the romantic in the digital age; translating a fast-paced visual language onto ready-to-wear pieces that are free from restraints.

The collection offered a whole sporty vibe and this was further enhanced with footballer style shoulders and of course the american footballer scene prints on the pieces too.

The collection explores form and finction via intricate folds and pleats that frame geometric silhouettes, embellished with iridescent and neon plastic floral motifs.

90's Rave culture influence colours and textures throughout the collection; satin woven with plastic threads are printed with distorted images of flowers and footballers, creating screen-like images that showcase vividness and energy.

Inspiration came from 60's theorist artist Lucio Fonatana's slashed canvases and it allowed the designers to explore garments from a different perspective, applying silicone finished and slashing fabrications whilst manipulating the voids, creating a visual language of movement.

American conceptual artist Robert Morris' 'Felt Sculptures' influences the designers to wrap and drape slashed pieces of large geometric fabrics, allowing for movement in the garment. Like Morris, Fyodor and Golan wanted to question the fixed geometric shapes of Minimalist sculpture and the way it imposed order on materials.

The floral appliqué dress was a standout piece for us, and we look forward to seeing big fashion fan Laura Whitmore wearing the pieces on the red carpet.

Kat Maconie’s shoes complement the collection perfectly, working with the same themes and influences.  The shoes were shown in two different colour ways – neon orange with navy and white and neon yellow with tan and white.  The bespoke shoes feature an exaggerated platform and chunky heel with neon sports luxe style sole.
