Online daily deals are being used by 70 per cent of Brits to help fund Christmas this year.

And if you aren't one of those people, then you should certianly join the majority because the average person with be saving £75 using these daily deals sites.

The research, from Gumtree.com, also found that nearly three quarters of Brits hate crowds, queues and the general stress of shopping on the high street and nearly 40 per cent are tightening their purse strongs and spending less on Christmas this year than last.

Therefore, it's not surprising 56 per cent of Brits are looking at ways to save money and many are going several steps further than just buying Christmas presents using these sites; 37 per cent admit they are aiming to fund their entire Christmas, from cards and decorations to party outfits and Christmas dinner, using sites that offer daily deals.

"With such a variety of offers, from experiences and holidays to beauty and clothes, it's not surprising to see the surge in popularity of Daily Deals," explains Hamish Stone from Gumtree.com.

"We're also taking note of the research findings and introducing a festive offering of 12 deals of Christmas to help people get the things they need for less, over this expensive time.

"Bargain hunters across the UK are cottoning on to the power of shopping using daily deals services as they take the stress and sting out of this year's festive season."
