Buying things online has been curved in the current climate

A new study has revealed that even though the majority of Brits are scaling back on their impulse buys, one in seven of us have shopped online after a drink or two and regretted it in the past year.

These findings coincide with news that Britain is officially back in recession – forcing millions up and down the country to tighten their purse strings. But it would seem even the best intentions can go awry should you browse online after a tipple.

Although one in seven admitted they regretted their drunken splurges - spare a thought for the unlucky one per cent of respondents who ended up being stung for £500 or more while shopping under the influence.

The YouGov study, which was commissioned on behalf of social sharing website Have You Seen, aims to highlight more cost effective ways to shop online – including earning money by recommending products you like to your online network of friends and family.

Dan Pearce, director of Have You Seen, comments: “It’s not surprising to see that a large number of shoppers have quit or reduced buying on impulse – a knock on effect of the recession. But online shopping need not hurt your wallet.

“Using platforms like Have You Seen allows you to shop online while still earning money. You even have the option to share any commission you make with your friends or family. Shoppers can also benefit from the recommendations of others – which should help avoid any bad impulse buys before reaching the online tills.”
