Healey Endurance
Stone, Staffordshire, 22 October 2009 - Vehicle telematics company Masternaut Three X is assisting the Healey Endurance Car team in its attempt to beat the world record 132.8 mph average for 1000 km driven in 24 hours set at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats in 1954.
The car will be equipped with a Masternaut Mobile Collection Unit to track and monitor its performance during testing at Millbrook Proving Ground. The 'tracker' will send real-time information to the web-based Masternaut vehicle tracking system, providing vehicle intelligence information for analysis by the Healey Endurance Car team.
'The Masternaut system will enable us to analyse vehicle and driving performance in fine detail. We will get a full picture of how the Healey is performing allowing us to investigate speed differences over the 2-mile Millbrook track. This will help us to refine the vehicle set up prior to the official FIA test scheduled for November, weather conditions permitting,' said Martyn Corfield, owner and driver of the Healey Endurance Car.
Corfield is well acquainted with Masternaut as his fleet of Good Food Chain delivery vehicles uses the system to help provide better service to customers. The Good Food Chain makes and delivers handmade sandwiches, delivering to hundreds of customers every day from its Stone, Staffordshire, HQ.
'The system provides essential information about the delivery fleet in real time. We know precisely where each vehicle is and we can follow their progress on screen. If a delay is likely we can call customers to warn them of the situation. The system gives us full historical data '" fuel usage, speed of travel, time of arrivals and departures - as well as helps us to maintain a watchful eye on our drivers'.. safety,' says Corfield.
The Healey Endurance Car is a recreation of the world record breaking 1954 works Healey car built by Denis Welch Motorsport. The team's ambition is to attempt a new record and exceed all non supercharged Healey records. Denis Welch Motorsport is owned by co-driver Jeremy Welch, who's great grandfather built the first six cylinder engine ever made in the UK in 1906 and went on to build Brooke Marine racing engines with notable success.
