Battleship

Battleship

April is an exciting month for movies as we see the summer blockbuster season really get underway with the release of Avengers Assemble and Battleship.

So what movies will you be watching this month? Well FemaleFirst have teamed up with The Big Picture to guide you through this month's movie releases

- Mirror Mirror

Julia Roberts is back on the big screen this week with Tarsem Singh's take on Snow White.

The Oscar winner is set to play the evil Queen opposite Lily Collins as Snow White, who finds herself at war with the queen.

Singh has a real flair when it comes to the look of his movie, Immortals is a great example, and this is no different as he has a real boldness to the images and the colours used in this movie.

This is a re-telling of a popular tale that is full of action and laughs.

Mirror Mirror is out now.

- Headhunters

Scandinavian cinema/TV really is on the rise with the huge success of The Millennium Trilogy and The Killing.

And Headhunters is set to add to that success when it hits the big screen this week.

The movie is an adaptation of Jo Nesbø's novel and sees Morten Tyldum in the director's chair.

An accomplished headhunter risks everything to obtain a valuable painting owned by a former mercenary.

Headhunters is released 6th April.

- Titanic 3D

It has been fifteen years since Titanic first graced the big screen and we were all swept away with the romance of Jack & Rose.

But this week sees James Cameron bring the smash hit movie back... but this time it is in 3D.

Yes we get to relive the romance and the heartbreak all over again as this is the movie that really launched the careers of Leonardo DiCaptio and Kate Winslet.

Titanic 3D is released 6th April

- Battleship

Battleship is the first big action blockbuster of the month as Peter Berg returns to the director' chair.

Based on the popular board game Battleship sees the American Navy battling an alien force on the high sees.

Berg knows how to make a blockbuster movie having brought us Hancock in the past and Battleship promises to be action fuelled with interesting and strong characters.

Taylor Kitsch leads the cast with Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander Skarsgård and Rihanna all on board.

Battleship is released 11th April.

- Avengers Assemble

But THE movie of April has to be Avengers Assemble, while I don't think too much of the title it promises to kick off the blockbuster season in fine style.

Yes this is one of a handful of superhero movies that will be gracing the big screen this summer and it brings together Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Hulk, Black Widow and Nick Fury who are all trying to stop the evil of Loki.

Joss Whedon is in the director's chair for this movie and if you haven't seen the trailer then you really should check it out as this is action movie meets disaster film.

Can't wait for this!!!

Avengers Assemble is released 26th April
