The Raid

The Raid

The Raid is not only one of the best foreign language films that I have seen this year but one of the best film period.

But it has just been piped to the top spot in out countdown of the Best Movies of 2012 and will have to be content at number two.

The film follows a SWAT team that becomes trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs.

Seriously there are almost no words to describe the greatness of this movie and it will hook you from start to finish.

Director Gareth Evans has delivered a film that moves at 100mph and never allows you to pause and catch your breath.

The stunts and the set pieces are so ferocious and they really can't be faulted as the action pushes the story forward.

But you will not see a greater fight see this year than that between Iko Uwais, Doni Alamsyah and Yahan Ruhian towards the end of the movie, it really is hell in a cell.

The Raid really introduces Iko Uwais as an action star talent to keep an eye on as his performance in this movie is just fantastic.

He has a real presence in every scene that he is in and he goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to the action sequences.

Uwais gives his all in the movie as he mixes moments of his octane fight moves with really vulnerability and fear.

The Raid is of the most violent and blood soaked action movies that I have seen for some years and I enjoyed every minute of it - however those with a weak stomach should perhaps give it a wide berth.

Evans has showed with this movie that the action genre is alive and well and I can't wait to see the sequel.
