Film fans have voted the 2006 remake of Bond film Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig as the Best Film Resurrection of all time, beating remakes of Ocean's Eleven and King Kong in a poll to mark Easter 2009.

LOVEFiLM polled over 1,500 members to find out exactly which films were deserving of their remakes.

Casino Royale, which starred Daniel Craig in his first outing as a back-to-basics Bond in the third screen adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1953 novel took a massive 29 per cent of the vote. 

The film was welcomed by both male and female audiences alike, the latter no doubt due to a certain swimming trunk scene.

Even the dream teaming of George Clooney and Brad Pitt & co in Ocean's Eleven was clearly no match for the hunk in trunks, after the update of the 1960s rat-pack classic came second with 17 per cent.

Peter Jackson's (2005) King Kong towered above other rivals to take third place in the poll with 13 per cent.  With a budget of $207 million, Jackson's Blockbuster was the sixth most expensive film ever made and wowed audiences with its superior effects and scale.

Tim Burton's second Roald Dahl adaptation and fourth collaboration with Johnny Depp breathed new life into Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, following the original childhood classic version starring Gene Wilder as the eccentric chocolatier (nine per cent).

In fifth place, Western classic 3:10 To Yuma starring Glenn Ford and Van Heflin received a more successful remake some 50 years on.  Refreshed starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale in the same roles, the remake was widely praised by fans and critics alike for its performances (eight per cent).

No stranger to spy films, former Bond Pierce Brosnan took on Steve McQueen's original role in suave heist hit The Thomas Crown Affair and took the film on to takings of $124 million against a budget of $48m (seven per cent).

Camp musical hit Hairspray took seventh place in the resurrections list with four per cent.  After becoming an instant cult video release in the late 80s, the story of plump Tracy Turnblad rallying against racial segregation received a Hollywood makeover in 2007 with the help of an all-star cast including a cross-dressing John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer and teen idol Zac Efron.

1999's teen tale of seduction Cruel Intentions starring fresh-faced Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon was the third take on 18th-century French novel Les Liaisons dangereuses and a runaway success with fans (three per cent).

In at nine, the film that spawned that Michael Caine quote, cult hit The Italian Job received its MOT in 2003 with Mark Wahlberg heading the cast with the gold heist this time aided by a fleet of new minis (two per cent).

Tenth position went the to festive remake of 1947's Miracle on 34th Street, giving fans the right to 'Believe' in everyone's favourite Santa, Richard Attenborough.  Child star Mara Wilson completed the line-up that proved an instant Christmas classic (one per cent).
