Gangster Squad

Gangster Squad

Every generation as their gangster movie as it has been a staple of the big screen for years.

And that trend is set to continue into 2013 as Gangster Squad finally hits the big screen and it is set to be one of the early movies not to miss.

The movie is a big screen adaptation of the novel by Paul Lieberman novel and sees Ruben Fleischer in the director's chair.

But it is the cast list that will make your eyes water as the likes of Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone, Michael Pena, Nick Nolte, Giovanni Ribisi and Anthony Mackie are all set to star.

We have a new featurette for you to check out as the cast talk about the success of this genre over the years:

Gangster Squad is a completely different genre for director Fleischer as he moves away from comedy such as Zombieland and 30 Minutes of Less to tackle the gangster flick for the very first time.

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and - if he has his way - every wire bet placed west of Chicago.

And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control.

It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop, except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart.
