Hayden Panettiere

It's hard to believe Hayden Panettiere as any other character than Claire Bennett in Heroes but she makes the transition to the big screen this week to star in I Love You, Beth Cooper.

And while Heroes is what the young actress is most closely associated, and the role that made her a star, but she enjoyed a career before stepping onto the set of the cult hit.

So FemaleFirst takes a look at the rise of the popular actress.

Panettiere began modelling when she was just four months old and appeared in a string of adverts as a young child.

At the age of five she landed her first TV acting role in the ABC soap One Life to Live. She stayed with the show until 1997 before moving onto Guiding Light, where she stayed for three years.

After leaving the CBS soap Panettiere moved onto the big screen with a string of movies starting with the likes of A Bug's Life, she voiced the character of Dot, before moving onto the likes of Remember the Titans, Racing Stripes and Bring It On: All or Nothing.

But it was Heroes and the role of Claire Bennett that shot her to super-stardom back in 2006. The series follows the stories of apparently ordinary individuals from around the world who mysteriously develop superhuman abilities.

Panettiere's character Claire Bennett is a fifteen year old cheerleader who has the ability to heal rapidly the first series sees her pursued by Silar.

The show was an instant hit and Heroes fever swept the globe when series one aired. Panettiere has stayed with the show for the other two series which have struggled to repeat the success of series one.

Away from Heroes the actress has moved back into movies with Robot Chicken and Fireflies in the Garden.

But with I Love You, Beth Cooper she leads the cast. During his graduation speech, nerdy valedictorian Denis Cooverman (Paul Rust) declares his love for Beth Cooper (Hayden Panettiere), the hottest girl at Buffalo Grove High School.

What could have been the most embarrassing moment of Denis's life turns out to be the best decision he ever made as blonde bombshell Beth decides his declaration was kinda cute and plans to show Denis the night of his life.

Turning up at his house later that evening, Beth takes Denis on an eye-opening joyride across town, starting out at a raucous pool party and finishing off with an intimate beer around a campfire, all while trying to avoid her mightily miffed boyfriend, Kevin (Shawn Roberts).

And she has plenty in the pipeline, as well as her Heroes commitment, she has voiced characters in animation movies Hoodwinked 2: Hood vs Evil and Alpha and Omega.

I Love You, Beth Cooper is released 21st August.
