Who would have thought that the hero of this summer’s best blockbuster would be an office worker?
Happily married and in a comfortable office job, Wikus is the ultimate every man. He’s not the nicest guy though, ignorant, racist and a slave to the rules, Wikus is as unlikely a hero as anyone.
More used to being behind a desk than behind enemy lines, Wikus transformed before our eyes, going from spineless beaurocrat to selfless hero.
No character in recent memory has undergone such a mental transformation for Wikus, and as the film will be something to remember for sci-fi fans out there, Wikus will always stand as one of the great characters.
This is only made even more amazing when you know that this was actor Sharlto Copley’s first ever acting role.
He’s now following this up by being part of everyone’s favourite van based crime fighters, the A-Team. Talk about picking you’re roles well.
