Ides Of March

Ides Of March

It would be fair to say that George Clooney has become a better actor the older he has got and with the likes of Up In The Air and Michael Clayton in recent years he has become of the best dramatic Hollywood stars.

Not only has Clooney been a huge success in front of the camera but he has also down well behind it in a directing and script writing capacity.

And Ides of March sees him take up the mantle of filmmaker once again, the first project that he has helmed since Leatherheads.

Not content with just directing the movie has also penned the script with Grant Heslov and he will play Governor Mike Morris alongside an all star cast.

It seems I have been saying ’oh this movie has a great cast’ left right and centre in recent weeks and this is once again the case with The Ides of March.

Ryan Gosling will follow up successful roles in Drive and Crazy, Stupid, Love with yet another movie project and he is joined by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Evan Rachel Wood, Marisa Tomei and Paul Giamatti.

During the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, an up-and-coming campaign press secretary finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate's shot at the presidency.

This political drama is an adaptation of the play Farragut North by Beau Willimon and has already been gaining supporting on the festival circuit - could Oscar nominations be coming Clooney’s way once again?

The Ides of March is released 28th October.
