Skyfall

Skyfall

British cinema has produced some real gems in 2012 and that trend looks set to continue into the autumn.

Seriously if you haven't checked out Wild Bill yet then it is a movie that is not to be missed while Woman In Black was also great.

And so we have taken a look at some of the British movie that are on the horizon that we should all be excited about.

- Pusher - 12th October

Nicolas Winding Refn made his directorial debut with this Danish crime drama back in 1996 - a movie that would go on to become a cult hit.

Sixteen years later and Luis Prieto is at the helm of the English speaking remake while Matthew Read has penned the screenplay.

The movie is set over the course of one week and follows Frank, a drug pusher whose life spins out of control.

Richard Coyle takes on the central role of Frank and he is joined on the cast list by Bronson Webb, Agyness Deyn and Mem Ferda.

The cockney crime/thriller is a genre that Brit cinema does so well and it will be interesting to see what Prieto does with this already well known story.

- Ginger & Rosa - 19th October

Ginger & Rosa is a movie that has been doing well on the festival circuit with successful screening at Telluride and Toronto over the last few weeks.

And while it won't have a huge impact at the box office when it is released next month it is a film that you shouldn't miss if you have the chance to see it.

British director Sally Potter is at the helm for the movie in what is her first time since Rage back in 2009.

The movie follows two teenage girls - Ginger & Rosa - as they grow up in London during the sixties with the threat of nuclear war hanging over them.

Elle Fanning's performance as Ginger is being raved about by the critics and she is joined on the cast list by Alice Englert, Annette Bening and Christina Hendricks.

- Skyfall - 26th October

But if there is one movie that everyone will be packing the cinemas to see in October is Skyfall as James Bond is back on the big screen.

The movie is the third outing as 007 for Daniel Craig and the movie promises to be the biggest and best yet as Craig reunites with director Sam Mendes.

It is the first Bond movie for Mendes but he has assembled an impressive cast as Ben Whishaw, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes are just some of the new face - Judi Dench will of course be back as M.

And the movie sees Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her.

If there is one blockbuster movie that you have to see this autumn then Skyfall has to be it!

- Sightseers - 30th November

Ben Wheatley whipped up a storm last year when he directed Kill List and this autumn he is back with his new movie Sightseers - which sees him tackle the comedy genre.

This is another movie that has been playing and doing well on the festival circuit and it will be November when it hits the big screen.

The black comedy stars Alice Lowe And Steve Orman and the duo also penned the script for the movie.

Chris wants to show girlfriend Tina his world, but events soon conspire against the couple and their dream caravan holiday takes a very wrong turn.

- Great Expectations - 30th November

And if there is one genre of film that British cinema do better than anyone else it is the costume drama and Great Expectations is heading our way this autumn.

Mike Newell gives us his take on the Charles Dickens novel while David Nicholls has penned the screenplay for the movie.

It has already been a busy year for actor Jeremy Irvine as he burst onto the scene with War Horse and now he is back to take on the role of Pip.

But he is surrounded by a cast of experienced hands as Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane and Sally Hawkins are all also set to star.
