Ok so Fame is amazingly at the top of the UK box office, despite The Soloist being a totally awesome movie.

And hoping to topple the all singing dancing picture is Pandorum and The Invention of Lying but it's not this week's box office that interests us as it's time to see what movies are in the pipeline and who has been hired in our studio news.

- Josh Brolin is about the movie Cartel, after Oscar winner Sean Penn left the project to take a year out of movie making.

The movie is a a remake of the 1993 Italian film, "La Scorta" and centres around four guards are hired to protect a high-profile attorney, who's trying a case against the mafia.

After the success of No Country For Old Men actor Brolin has been inundated with work with the like likes of W and Milk in the last year.

And that looks set to continue with Jonah Hex and Wall Street 2 also on the way.

Cartel is penciled in for a 2010 release in America.

- Hugh Jack man may be telling people to turn their mobile phones off during a performance of his latest stage production on Broadway, which also stars Daniel Craig, but the Aussie actor is in talks to star in Real Steel.

Set in the future human boxing has been outlawed and remotely-operated robots take on each other  in the ring instead.

The movie follows a father and son as they attempt to win the Bot Boxing Championship.

Shawn Levy, the filmmaker behind Night At The Museum, will helm the project with Steven Spielberg on producing duties.

- John C. Reilly is all set to star in road trip comedy Cedar Rapids alongside Ed Helms.

The movie follows a naive Midwesterner insurance salesman (Helms) who travels to a big-city convention in an effort to save the jobs of his co-workers.

Reilly takes on the role of another conference attendee using it as an excuse to get away from his family.

Miguel Arteta is directing while the script was penned by Phil Johnston. The movie will be released in 2011.

- Uma Thurman has joined the comedy Ceremony.

The movie has been written and will be directed by Max Winkler and actor Michael Angarano is already aboard the project.

The movie follows a young man who falls in love with an older woman (Thurman) but his timing couldn't be worse as she is just about to get married.

Production on the movie begins later this month.

- Diablo Cody is a busy bunny and a very in demand scriptwriter after the success of Juno back in 2007.

Not only is she bringing Sweet Valley High to the big screen she is also working on a Playboy movie according to Hugh Hefner.

He wrote on his twitter page "Meeting with Diablo Cody to talk about the Brian Grazer Playboy film today."

Rumours of a movie have been circulating for some time with Robert Downey Jr always attached to the project.
