In The Fighter, Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale act out the true story of real life brothers, Micky Ward and Dicky Eklund. At the end of the film, they are shown together as a real life cameo talking about their lives and everything they went through together.

As it’s always fascinating to see the faces behind the characters, we’re taking a look at some other famous real life cameos in the film industry.

Erin Brockovich (2000)

This dramatic, romantic biography starring Julia Roberts, Albert Finney and David Brisbin tells the powerful story of a single mother who was unemployed and struggling.

After finding a job as a legal assistant, Erin Brockovich (Roberts) works tirelessly in an effort to finally (almost single-handedly) bring down a California power supply company who was under investigation for polluting a city’s water supply.

In this popular and memorable film, the real Erin Brockovich actually shows up has a cameo as a waitress.

 Schindler's List (1993)

This heart-wrenching story is based on a true story during World War II. Oskar Schindler, an extremely greedy German businessman, starts to become worried when many of the Jews in his workforce start getting prosecuted.

Regardless of his greed and religious affiliation, Schindler turns his factory into a refuge for Jewish people during the Second World War, and he ends up saving more than 1,100 people from prosecution.

At the end of the film some of the real Jewish people that Schindler saved are shown leaving flowers on his grave.

The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)

In this dramatized story of a young medical student one semester away from graduation and his friend, Alberto Granado, on an 80,000-mile motorcycle ride to the other side of the continent they live on.

The idea was to see things on their own continent they had only read about, and finish the ride on Alberto’s thirtieth birthday.

However, along the way, they run into many problems such as motorcycle difficulties, lack of money and the struggle to stay calm with each other in times of stress. At the end of the movie, the real Alberto Granado makes an appearance.

Apollo 13 (1995)

Based on the true story of Apollo 13, three astronauts, Lovell, Haise and Swigert were supposed to go on Apollo 14, but got moved to the 13th Apollo. Headed to the moon on a 'routine' mission, things started to go very wrong, but the three of them carefully and skilfully rescued it.

In the film, Jim and Marilyn Lovell make a real appearance to the actors playing their parts in the film, Tom Hanks and Kathleen Quinlan.

The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

This film tells the true story based on Christopher Gardner (Will Smith) of a man who invested heavily in bone density scanners.

When the machines did not sell as well as he thought they would, he lost everything: his house, his car, his credits, and eventually his wife.

Living on the streets and desperately looking for a stable job, Gardner and his son continue to struggle until he finds a job as a stockbroker, but he needs six months of training first, and to sell his machines. At the end of the film, the real Chris Gardner appears.

Milk (2008)

Using flashbacks and archival footage, this film tells the true story of Harvey Milk, a gay activist and the first openly gay elected official in California.

From his 40th birthday to his death, this film follows his story and struggles for gay rights and holding political office, his relationship with lover Scott Smith, and his eventual death. In this movie, several of Harvey Milk’s real life associates appear.

Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? (2010)

In this film, Dr. Patricia Agnew (Janet Jackson), a psychologist, has just written a best-selling book about marriage.

In it, she tells the stories of her marriages and those of three other marriages. Each year they go on a week-long retreat and answer to themselves and their partners, 'Why did I get married?'

This year, things go a little differently and every couple has some sort of issue, and everyone’s secrets come out. In this film, actor and wrestler Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson appears as himself.

The Fighter (2010)

The Fighter tells the unlikely story of Micky Ward’s rise to the top of his weight class in wrestling.

Through the dramatic relationship between his brother and the rest of his family, he manages to obtain his goal, but with hardships along the way.

His brother is a severe drug addict and his overbearing mother pulls him down, too. In the end, all turns out well and Micky goes pro, with the help of his brother, Dicky, and the support of his family and girlfriend, Charlene.
