It was back in November last year when we got our first look at a trailer for A Monster Calls... now some great new footage from the film has arrived and it is a movie that I am really looking forward to.

A Monster Calls

A Monster Calls

Yes, the new trailer for A Monster Calls has been unveiled and it is promising to be a great adventure as well as a visual treat. Take a look:

A Monster Calls is a big screen adaptation of the book of the same name by Patrick Ness and marks the return of J.A. Bayona to the director's chair. This is only the third feature film of Bayona's career and follows on from the success of The Orphanage and The Impossible.

His first two movies were brilliant character driven dramas and it looks like A Monster Calls is going to continue that fine tradition. I really cannot wait to see this exciting and visual filmmaker put his own stamp on this tale.

The director has assembled a terrific cast list as Liam Neeson, Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jone, and Toby Kebbell are all on board. We are also going to be further introduced to the acting talents of Lewis MacDougall, who takes on the central role of Conor.

MacDougall made his big screen debut last year with Pan but A Monster Calls is the biggest film role of his career to date.

12-year-old Conor (MacDougall) attempts to deal with his mother's (Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.

Also featuring Liam Neeson who will star in performance-capture and voiceover as the nocturnally visiting monster of the title, and Sigourney Weaver as the maternal grandmother.

A Monster Calls is released later this year.
